our new home

jonah and i are finally settling into our new apartment in park slope. everything is slowly coming together. so i will try to document the progress here... inherited rugs, thrifted chairs and antlers, and sofa from room and boardi hate carnations so much that i love theminherited clocks and farm table. my mom found the herman miller chair shells in the trash ages ago... purchased reproduction eiffel bases... and voila!the kitchen work area is missing something major... stools! to be continued here.simple bedroom, "breakers a twilight" by robert wood print over the bed. matteo linen bedding. searching for the perfect bedside tables and lamps... to be continued.

wallpaper hearts - hbo's grey gardens

ok, so i was a little late watching hbo's grey gardens... but i was delighted when i finally did. the original masley brother's masterpiece is my all time favorite documentary. i was mesmorized watching the set/production design of the hbo film. and i new that i had seen the wallpaper in little edie's bedroom somewhere before... and remembered where! on hannah's treasures vintage wallpaper website. the color way is different but it's the same pattern. this website has great patterns and is always inspiring to browse through.i also enjoyed reading this article in W and watching this slide show on architectural digest's site.

hearts for fanourakis (& kate bosworth)

flipping through old magazine tears today i came across a kate bosworth spread (either elle or vogue?) and notice an amazing poppy ring gracing her finger. and a little research brought me to the fanourakis website. love love the hand painted flowers and some of the rose cut diamond pieces!

It has been a long time since I have sewn anything. So here is my buttercup yellow "drit" (dress/shirt). And of course it had to have a huge ruffle and bow somehow incorporated into it.

spring is in the air

so i haven't posted since november! and a lot of things have happened. jonah proposed in joshua tree in november... in the pouring rain. after returning home we found an antique ring at excalibur estate jewelry. the jewelry shop has taken temporary residence at the paper bag princess on olympic bld. finding the ring at a counter next to racks and racks of vinatge frocks couldn't have been more wonderful.
visited friends in portland and enjoyed tons of sweet desserts and beer! and inspired by kristina's treasure troves at her casa. found this linen dress at wertz bros in santa monica. i think i might shorten it a bit. it's from a stylist/friend's booth. she also has a website with great finds... www.boholuxe.com
loved the photos from permanent vacation's s/s 09 collection. so sweet and demure!

came across this wallpaper at aztek while working on a work project. and i now need it.

enjoyed receiving this picture from my mom. we are going to see her next weekend. so i will get to meet these hen ladies.

last weekend i dropped a few bags of at my local thrift store. I am such an inspiration whore... i ripped bits and pieces off of things i was getting rid of. i was over the shoes but still couldn't part with the bows. the font on a tag was too cute...
and of course i couldn't drop off stuff with out going in...
